A Pride Month Celebration - Interviewing Toni
It was an idea that originated from wanting to do something special for Pride. We wanted to celebrate everything Pride stands for, make it somehow educational and also relatable.
One name jumped to mind and we asked our beautiful friend Toni Mosche-Callahan if she would let us interview her to answer some questions about what it’s like being a transgender female.
Our interview day arrived and started with a fabulous photoshoot at the beautiful Santanera restaurant. Its unique design, opulent furnishings and rich color scheme was the perfect backdrop for Toni being captured in front of the camera by the talented Ghifarie Akhmal.
Toni looked every bit the gorgeous and strong woman she is, rocking our gorgeous Elodie Gown, over wardrobe staple the Underboob Top Lee and finished off with the Devin Choker and Coven Belt for extra glamour and edge.
Quick wardrobe change and a move to a more relaxed environment, Toni sat down with Black Circle head designer & Founder Mareike, and they discussed everything from Toni’s gender identity journey, to things she has learned along the way, advice she wishes she had been given earlier and also things she wants to share with people.
Toni answered each question with truth and vulnerability and always a little tongue in cheek. Unapologetically herself she is the epitome of what Pride stands for.
It was a fabulous day getting to know her better with one of the key takeaways being when we asked her what advice she would give someone like her, or in a similar situation. Her answer was a beautiful ode to the LGBTQ community: “You are never alone”. If anyone is ever struggling, not sure how to cope or just feeling like they have no where to go - remember there is a whole community out there ready to support, give advice and uplift.
We left that day with full hearts and better friends - but also wishing that there didn’t need to be just one special month to celebrate. Everyday should be an opportunity to be unshakeably yourself, love who you want and be as expressive as you can (wearing hopefully mostly Black Circle ;-). Wouldn’t that be perfect?
